What is Snug

Snug is an innovative solution that allows people to keep their beverages warm while they are on the go. This portable mug heater is designed to be lightweight and compact, making it easy to take with you anywhere.

With Snug, you no longer have to worry about your drink getting cold before you finish it. Whether you’re out camping, hiking, or on a long journey, Snug provides a simple and effective way to keep your hot beverages warm. With its convenient size, Snug can easily fit into your backpack or travel bag, so you can enjoy a warm drink wherever you go.

Actions

During my work on the 3D design of a Snug, I discovered several impressions or scenarios where people might use the Snug.

The first one that came to mind was drinking coffee in winter, where the warmth of the mug could help keep hands and coffee warm on chilly days. Another scenario was late night study, where a hot beverage in the mug could keep the mind alert and focused. Additionally, the mug could be used while shopping, making it easy to carry a hot drink while browsing in stores.

It could also be a great accessory while watching a movie with a hot beverage or making tea in the morning. Finally, it could be used during lunch breaks, providing a comforting and warm beverage to accompany a meal. All of these impressions provided valuable insights for me to consider while designing the mug, ensuring that it would cater to a variety of use cases and scenarios.

Environment

The Snug is designed for use in a variety of environments, both indoors and outdoors.

Outdoor:

Outdoor environments where the Snug will be used the most include cold places, long journeys, hiking and camping trips, remote locations, and villages. The materials that come into contact with the mug in these settings include wood, rock, grass, sand, fabric, and plastic.

Indoor:

Indoors, the mug will be used in workplaces, kitchens, hotels, airports, and theaters. Materials in contact with the mug in these environments include wood, fiber, concrete, glass, fabric, and plastic. Overall, the design of the mug takes into consideration the different environments where it will be used to ensure its durability and versatility.

Interactions

Interactions with the device will be essential for users to get the most out of the product. Users will need to carry the device in their bags, which will require the product to be lightweight and portable. They will also need to fit the device in their utensils, which should be simple and easy.

Once the device is in the utensil, users will need to turn it on and set the temperature through the app. The app will also allow users to check the timer and unpair the device once paired. These interactions should be intuitive and user-friendly to provide a seamless user experience.

Objects

The product under development has potential relationships with various objects that can enhance the user experience. These objects include the tea bag, which will be used to make tea or coffee, the battery that will power the device, the mobile phone that will connect to the device via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, the mug/cup that will hold the hot beverage and the spoon that the user may use to stir the drink.

These objects play a significant role in the overall functionality of the product, and the design must take them into consideration to provide a seamless experience for the user.

Users

The product under development has potential users who come from various backgrounds and contexts.

These include college students who require their hot beverages during late-night study sessions, travelers who need to keep their drinks warm during long journeys, working-class individuals who need their coffee fix to keep them energized throughout the day, people living in cold areas who need to warm up their beverages, and coffee drinkers who enjoy sipping their hot coffee at any time of the day.

Users are likely to benefit from the portable mug heater, making it a versatile and useful product.

Precedents

Here are some of the precedents for snug that are already in the market but lack a few functions that are available with snug.

The precedent is the Ember Mug, which is a ceramic mug that can keep your beverage hot for up to an hour, but it needs to be placed on a charging coaster. The other precedent is the Smart Mug, which uses Bluetooth connectivity to keep your beverage hot for a longer period, but it is not portable. And some are temperature-controlled travel mug, which can keep your beverage hot or cold for several hours, but it lacks the ability to heat up your beverage on the go.

Snug, on the other hand, is a portable mug heater that can keep your beverage hot for an extended period, and it has Bluetooth connectivity to allow you to control the temperature via an app.

Inspiration

This is a great start to finding inspiration from nature for the design of Snug.

The concept of a volcano, where something appears cold on the outside but is hot on the inside, could be applied to the product’s ability to heat up a cold drink. Another example is the neck pillow, which is soft and comfortable, similar to how Snug will provide a warm and cozy experience for users. Additionally, taking inspiration from a sloth hugging a branch, Snug could be designed to easily clip onto a mug, providing a secure fit while also adding a playful and whimsical element to the product.
